SEEMAC Names Elliott Savage President and Chief Executive Officer
Carmel, Indiana – November 2006
The Board of Directors of SEEMAC Incorporated, a diversified wood products marketing and distribution firm serving the nation’s woodworking and building materials markets, named Elliott Savage President and Chief Executive Officer as of Friday, November 15, 2006. The announcement was made by Former President Tom Kohlmeier, who will retain his role as Chairman of the Board and remain active in the company’s daily operations.
“This is the culmination of a strategy SEEMAC put in place when we hired Elliott in 2004,” explained Kohlmeier. “We are in an industry where tremendous consolidation is occurring. SEEMAC needed to grow organically and through key acquisitions and mergers. Elliott possesses the financial acumen and organizational skills to bring SEEMAC to the next level.”
Savage has more than 30 years of experience in the wood products industry. Before joining SEEMAC as Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, he served as President of Georgia Pacific’s Industrial Wood Products Division.
During his short tenure at SEEMAC, Savage has focused on the expansion of the firm’s domestic and international supply base and also on infrastructure changes to increase efficiency. He and Executive Vice-President Mike Finn spearheaded the company’s recent merger with Nickander Associates, increasing sales, distribution and warehousing capabilities.
“It is a great honor for me to accept the positions of President and Chief Executive Officer at SEEMAC,” stated Savage. “I greatly admire Tom Kohlmeier and the leadership he has provided.
Since Tom became President in 1986, the company has grown dramatically through an aggressive diversification strategy that added products, services and key experts to our company, making it the global trading company it is today.”
“SEEMAC was founded on the principle that all customers, suppliers and associates would be treated with courtesy and respect. We intend on continuing to uphold the values that have made SEEMAC great,” continued Savage. “But, having said that, the SEEMAC of today is not the SEEMAC of tomorrow. Our company is on the fast track to continued growth. We are going to get bigger and better, providing more products and more services to more customers. I look forward to leading our team as we work together to achieve these goals.”
